Position Summary

The Athletics department at UNC Asheville is an integral part of the University committed to providing an exemplary NCAA Division I Athletics Program that creates an environment where student-athletes have high-impact learning experiences while pursuing academic, athletic and lifelong goals, and engages the University’s internal and external constituents and communities. Competing in the Big South Conference, UNC Asheville’s Athletics department strives to be nationally recognized for developing “Champions in Athletics and Leaders in Life” by winning in the classroom, community, and competition. This position is responsible for the management and administration of all phases of the women’s volleyball program in a manner that upholds the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Athletics and the University, including but not limited to coaching, recruiting, team travel, budget management, fundraising, and community relations. This position is required to adhere to all policies and procedures of the department and the University, as well as the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Big South Conference.

Required Education/Experience/Skills

This position requires possession of post baccalaureate credentials. May also consider a Bachelor’s degree and equivalent independent experience. A successful candidate will have experience as a coach, student-athlete, and/or professional.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

A successful candidate will have two to four years of volleyball experience as a coach at either the collegiate or professional level. Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills. Also knowledge and adherence to compliance with University, Big South Conference and NCAA Division I rules and regulations is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to effectively coach and mentor students. Knowledge of successful recruitment cycles and best practices in a college or university setting. Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations. Knowledge of the rules and regulations for playing and administration of sport of volleyball.
